  • 2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups of vegetable oil to fry the chicken

Instructions

  1. Divide the chicken into 8 to 10 pieces and rinse well. Place the chicken pieces in a large mixing bowl.
  2. To the mixing bowl of chicken add 3¼ cup buttermilk. Toss together until all the chicken pieces get evenly coated with buttermilk.
  3. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap. Place the bowl in the refrigerator. Marinate at least for 2 to 3 hours.
  4. In a bowl, add all the dry ingredient together – all-purpose flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, chili powder, and black pepper. Mix together. Keep aside.
  5. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. The oil should be between 350-375 degree Fahrenheit (175-190 degree Celsius).
  6. Place each marinade chicken pieces in the bowl filled with the prepared seasoned flour mixture. Shake the bowl such that the chicken pieces get evenly covered with the seasoned flour mixture.
  7. Drop each floured chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry on each side for around 8 minutes, or until the chicken turns golden brown.
  8. Place the fried chicken on a plate lined with paper towel to absorb the excess oil. Let the chicken sit for a few minutes before serving.Enjoy!
