- 3 cloves of garlic, minced

- 1 teaspoon of Chinese five-spice powder
- A pinch of white pepper
- 2 tablespoons of cooking wine

- Rinse the chicken and pat dry with paper towels. Place the chicken into a roasting pan.
- Mix garlic, ginger, soy sauce, oil, five spice powder, white pepper and cooking wine in a bowl. Rub the mixture onto the chicken.
- Add water to the bottom of the roasting pan. Cover with foil and place the pan into a preheated steamer.

- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chicken and fry until golden brown. Remove the chicken with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- Mix cornstarch and sesame seeds in another bowl. Toss the chicken pieces in the mixture until all pieces are evenly coated.
